Victoria Jubilee Hospital Receives New Medical Equipment from Bob and Rita Manley Foundation


Dr. Garth McDonald, Senior Medical Officer, VJH, explained the function of the incubator that will treat neonates to Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton (third right), Minister of Health and Wellness, and Ms. Alicia Williams (right), Foundation Manager, Bob and Rita Marley Foundation, during the official handover ceremony. Others observing from left are: Dr. Naydene Williams, Director of Health Services and Planning Integration, Ministry of Health and Wellness; Mr. Courtney Cephas, Director of the National Healthcare Enhancement Foundation, Ministry of Health and Wellness; Ms. Candice Thompson, Deputy Director of Nursing Services, VJH; Mrs. Taision Lawrence-Tyrell, Registered Nurse, VJH; and Ms. Mitzie Williams, a representative from the Foundation.


The Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is the beneficiary of maternal care equipment supplied by the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation. Dr. the Hon.Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health and Wellness, received the items under the first tranche of the donation, which in total is valued at JMD $17.3 million.


The supplies handed over include infant incubators, suction machines, resuscitators, and other equipment to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.


The handover ceremony was held inside the conference room of the Ministry of Health and Wellness on Friday, July 7, 2023.
