SERHA Hosts 3rd Board of Directors' Strategic Management Retreat 2024

The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is hosting its third Board of Directors’ Strategic Management Retreat under the theme “Right Care at the Right Time: Expanding Access to Quality Healthcare Delivery Across the Region”.

This retreat will examine the new and existing strategies employed by the Authority to maintain and expand services in the South East Region of Jamaica. These strategies have been developed in alignment with the mandate of the Ministry of Health and Wellness while achieving Jamaica’s National Outcome: A Healthy and Stable Population.

The theme for this retreat recognizes critical focus on initiatives that support and oversee efforts in expanding healthcare access and quality in the Region. Additionally, the retreat seeks to identify and analyse the primary barriers currently impeding access to quality healthcare services in the Region, to address gaps in healthcare delivery and build a comprehensive system that ensures patients receive the right care at the right time.

The SERHA which is the largest of the four Regional Health Authorities has, since its inception, diligently provided health care to residents in Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. Thomas.

The Authority has been providing access to quality healthcare through a sustainable and responsive health care delivery system that is guided by SERHA’s core values: Accountability, Transparency, Integrity, Equity, Merit, Respect and Fairness.

Over the past year, the Authority has made several improvements to its efficiency, supporting improving access to the health care system through the expansion and renovation of its primary care facilities, purchasing of additional equipment for better treatment and implementing measures to reduce waiting time at the major hospitals.

As the new financial year approaches, we will embrace it with enthusiasm and welcome the opportunities that lie ahead. Many of SERHA’s challenges are ongoing, and although strides were made in tackling the issues, the management, with the support of the board, remains committed to finding resolutions that are acceptable.

Mr. Wentworth Charles, Board Chairman, SERHA  took the opportunity to commend the management team, staff, local and overseas partners and associations, whose combined efforts has allowed us to serve our Region and Jamaica.
