Operating Theatres Reopens Today Amidst Minor Fire at VJH

Following a minor fire that occurred early this morning in the Sister's Office on the Operating Theatre Floor at Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH), the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is advising the public that the two operating theatres that were affected will reopen later today. Emergency procedures are currently being carried out utilising the operating theatres at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

We wish to reassure the public that the situation is under control. The fire was swiftly extinguished by our dedicated staff at VJH and the Jamaica Fire Brigade, which arrived shortly thereafter conducted cooling-down operations. Our Maintenance and Operations Team is currently engaged in deep cleaning and performing minor repairs to the affected areas.

Importantly, no patients or staff were adversely affected by the incident. The authority is awaiting an official report from the Jamaica Fire Brigade to complete the investigation.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to restore full operations.
