The Compassionate Care Programme was officially launched at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Thursday, November 17, 2022, by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA). The Compassionate Programme, which is being implemented at healthcare facilities island-wide, comprises three components-training of staff in customer service; enhancing basic infrastructure, such as waiting areas, to make them more comfortable for patients; and engaging persons as volunteers, to offer good customer service with the supervision of staff. Through this programme, the KPH’s A&E Department was completely redesigned and upgraded to improve the overall experience of both patients and members of staff.

The Compassionate Care Programme comprises of three components, one of which is an infrastructural enhancement, which the NHF has committed to undertaking at a cost of $100,000,000.
