The Bustamante Hospital for Children hosted a health fair and open day to commemorate its 60th anniversary on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, on the grounds of the hospital. The facility has the distinction of being the only specialist pediatric hospital in the English-speaking Caribbean and was officially opened by the Honourable Gladys Maud Bustamante O.J., J.P., on November 6, 1963.
The event focused on the displays by the various departments at the hospital, showcasing and explaining their functions to the public. Free blood pressure and glucose checks, as well as HIV/STI testing, will be offered by the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department (KSAHD) at the health fair.
Mr. Errol C. Greene, OD, JP, Regional Director, SERHA, delivered the official welcome remarks at the opening ceremony. Her Excellency, the Most Honourable Lady Allen, officially declared the event open and toured the learning Centre. The staff enjoyed the live performances of Dancehall artistes, "Beenie Man" and Teejay.
