The construction of a new Drug Serv Pharmacy at the Bustamante Hospital for Children (BHC) has been undertaken to meet the existing and future population needs. It will extend the delivery of new and improved pharmaceutical services offered by the National Health Fund to its clients. The pharmacy will also boost increased dispensing windows for timely processing of prescriptions and a pleasant and welcoming environment for patients as well as staff at the hospital.
It is equipped with a sterile room to protect the integrity of the drugs ensuring that they are of the highest quality, a manufacturing room to facilitate liquid formulations, staff areas, multi- purpose room, and a sick bay.
The National Health Fund provided the funding for the pharmacy at a cost of over $70 million. The date of the official opening was held by Wednesday, June 7, 2021, by the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister and Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Health & Wellness.
