As announced in the sectoral presentation of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, in May 2024, the Ministry of Health and Wellness and Government of Jamaica have awarded six hundred and seven (607) Jamaicans with scholarships to pursue studies in a health-related field, ranging from specialist doctors and nurses to biotech engineers and social workers. This is the highest number of scholarship awardees ever under a government or private sector programme.
This programme is based on our policy to train and retain health workers through an agreed bonding period, to work in public health after completion. Congrats to the awardees!
