The Ministry of Health established the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) in April 1999 as part of the reform of the health sector/decentralization programme (National Services Act)
The Authority's responsibility is to manage and deliver high quality health care to the people in the geographic region of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. Thomas. As the largest of the four Regional Health Authorities in Jamaica, SERHA, presently oversees 3 health departments (encompassing a total of 10 public hospitals and 89 health centers). These include the Kingston Public Hospital, Spanish Town Hospital, Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Princess Margaret, Linstead and specialty institutions such as National Chest Hospital, Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, Hope Institute and Bellevue Hospital.
It is the authority's job to ensure that all Jamaicans in the catchment area have access to friendly, helpful and professional services from a fair, competitive and informed organization.
Our wide range of services extends from the prevention and treatment of disease, to the promotion of good health and rehabilitation. Whatever the issue or problem, we are committed to a resolution, based on integrity and fairness for all parties involved.
"To be successful we must develop and maintain a focus on you our Client. We must become skilled at listening to, consulting and communicating with you."
